How to Save When You Are On Vacation - Travel Budget Tips

Everybody of us want to unwind once in awhile and we choose to have a vacation so thatĀ  when we come back we are fully charged. There are simple tips when oneĀ  is having their vacation. Simple budget travel tips that will save you some cash so that you don't end up being stress later on paying your credit card. In this hub, I will share to you some of my experiences while traveling and how you can save some money while having fun with your much needed vacation.

Travel Budget Tips - Transportation

  • Whether you are traveling alone or with a friend or with your special someone or family, it is good to research first about the timing of getting a ticket for airfare if you decide for it. Usually an open ticket is cheaper in the lean season, so you might want to do your part by comparing and contrasting different airline prices.
  • The next thing to consider here is the local transportation costs - from airport to the place you are going to stay and when you move around the area, what types and prices of transportation are available.Taxis are a little bit expensive so it is best if you know the types of transportation available and schedule within the area. You can do this by dropping at a tourism center or a map which you can check the availability and prices of transportation.

That is why it is very important to choose an accommodation near the center of everything - food complex, grocery, mall or the area you want to visit. Best if you can just walk to this area as you visit places around the place.

How to Save on Food Costs When You are On Vacation

When I travel I usually research first the place I am going to stay then I checked the area if there are restaurants and what kinds of food they offer. I checked the prices and how far is it from the place I am going to stay. That is my strategy.

If you can get a place which is not a hotel or it is some kind of a apartment or a unit, lodge for limited number of stay with kitchen the better so that you can just buy beverages and some quick foods like sandwiches and you can pack them when you go anywhere when roaming the area.

Do your own coffee and avoid buying small bottled mineral water, buy the big ones and just make a refill when you go out.

Budget travel tips - Maximize the place you are going to visit by scheduling your trips to places you want to visit by coordinating your transportation

Save money for transportation by coordinating your schedule.

Say for example you are in the place you want to visit, go to a tourism center or visit the main city hall to ask fro maps, schedule of local shows, times when museums or parks are open. In thsi way you can schedule day by day to maximize your time.

Walk when you can - you can see the beauty of the place and as if you are really feeling the culture when you walk. I like to walk when I visit a place, walking at night and day so that I can scour the area upon arriving, then the next days I plan my visits to different historical places in the area.

Most places have bus within the city or railroads, so traveling within the area by buses or train is alright when walking is impossible

Great tips! One other way is to not buy the alcoholic drinks from the hotel or resort. Just purchase your favorite beverage and take it with you in a plastic sip cup to the pool.
